The Boathouse at Greenway

Greenway is a beautiful estate on the River Dart near Galmpton, Devon. Greenway House was once the holiday home of the iconic author Agatha Christie, and the National Trust have preserved the house as it was when Agatha stayed there from the 1930s.

The Boathouse is right on the banks of the Dart, hidden from view unless you are on the water’s edge, or in a boat! It is an attractive building with slate frontage, characterful stone walls and arched windows.

I found the zigzag angle of the wall at the waterside gave a brilliant viewpoint from which to look down the river, and I like the fact that usually the photographs you see of the boathouse are taken from the river, whereas this is the view that visitors can enjoy.

The battery along from the boathouse and the boathouse itself feature as settings within several Agatha Christie novels, including Five Little Pigs and Dead Man’s Folly. The Poirot episode of Dead Man’s Folly was also filmed there.

My Boathouse at Greenway illustrated print makes an ideal set when paired with my Greenway illustrated print.

My Local Landmarks series are a collection of hand-drawn illustrations that I have chosen to draw because they mean something to me - maybe I just love a building or the character, or have memories of fun family trips there, or I think they represent my home county of Devon in an interesting way.

I have illustrated them in pencil then pen and ink, with all the characterful features explored in beautiful detail.

This print will be treasured for years to come and will certainly make a talking point!

A4 sized prints, supplied unframed so you can frame them to suit your interior.
